Sales of the Taiwan Welfare Lottery fell by 60 per cent to NT$4.75 billion (€138.1 million) in January, with the timing of the Lunar New Year holiday a reason for the drop. In 2023, the holiday straddled the end of January and the early part of February, meaning that both months received a boost in lottery sales.
