Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission to decide on sports betting rules and licenses

The Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission will meet on Tuesday to vote to adopt proposed rules for sports wagering and to approve license applications from various Iowa casinos and contracts for out-of-state vendor partnerships.

After a July 11th public hearing on the proposed rules and regulations, the commission announced a rules package on Friday, July 26th to be voted on for approval on Tuesday, July 30th and established August 15th as a potential starting date for eligible casinos that can meet the commission's licensing requirements.

But according to Brian Ohorilko, administrator of the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission, the commission doesn't expect many (or possibly any) of the casinos to be ready to comply with regulations that will be established once the rules are voted on and settled after the meeting, making a starting-date uncertain for those casinos that do get their license approved.

Ohorilko also added that the commission will be considering a wide variety of criteria for those casinos that have submitted license applications and fee, including their sustainability and standing with the commission.

The casinos that have applied for sports wagering licenses and are up for approval at Tuesday's meeting include the following:
