Even as cold weather has settled in, Miami Valley residents are warming up to gaming, if racino revenues are an indication.

Net wins for Hollywood Gaming at Dayton Raceway for the state fiscal year 2018 so far are up.

The racino off Needmore Road saw nearly $8.66 million in net wins — net gaming revenues remaining after payout of prizes and promotional credits — in (calendar) December 2017, according to the Ohio Lottery Commission’s latest numbers.

That’s up a million over the $7.6 million posted for December 2016 and up over the $8.3 million the racino saw in November 2017.

It’s a similar story for the Miami Valley Gaming racino near Monroe, which saw nearly $12.4 million in net wins for December 2017, above the $11.8 million realized in December 2016.

So far for the fiscal year, the Dayton racino has garnered nearly $49.8 million in net wins, stronger than the $45 million total seen at the same point in 2016.

Miami Valley Gaming has brought in $72.3 million for the fiscal year so far.

The Dayton racino has been open since August 2014 while Miami Valley Gaming opened in December 2013.

The fiscal year for the racino begins in July and ends in June. December 2017’s net win for Hollywood Gaming-Dayton Raceway was actually stronger than its July take, which was just over $8.3 million.

That July 2017 net win itself was stronger than the $7.7 million garnered in July 2016.

Meanwhile, annual revenue was up at three of four Ohio casinos, which have revenue presented by the Ohio Casino Control Commission in calendar year format.

Revenue only at the Jack Cleveland Casino was down, to $201. 4 million in 2017, down from $203.6 million in 2016, according to the commission.
