Sweden Q3 turnover revealed as self-exclusion increases

Gambling companies operating in Sweden generated a total turnover of SEK6.8bn in the third quarter of 2022.

Spelinspektionen noted the figure showed an increase of just over seven per cent compared to Q2 2022.

Commercial online gambling brought in the most turnover at SEK4.3bn for the latest quarter, with state lottery and slot games the second-biggest driver.

The Swedish regulator also reported that just under 81,3000 people were banned from gambling via the Spelpaus, the self-exclusion register – an increase of five per cent on the previous quarter.

Earlier this month, Spelinspektionen reported that 72 per cent of all Swedes have gambled for money in the past 12 months, around the same level as 2021.
