he New York Lottery will be leaving its longtime offices in downtown Schenectady but the moving trucks won't travel far.

The Lottery, part of the New York State Gaming Commission, will move from One Broadway Center to a $28.5 million, five-story, 80,000-square-foot building under construction at 354 Broadway — less than three blocks away.

The move is expected to occur in spring 2024, according to the state Office of General Services.

Highbridge Broadway LLC signed a 15-year lease with the Gaming Commission worth $42.8 million that starts in March 2024, according to the Office of the State Comptroller.

Highbridge Development of Schenectady — which has invested heavily in the Broadway corridor over the past two decades — is constructing the building. The pace is about four months ahead of schedule, according to John Roth, co-founder and managing member.

Highbridge won the lease as part of a competitive procurement process. The Gaming Commission's lease at One Broadway Center expires in October 2024.

The commission, which has 355 employees, occupies six floors of the tower at One Broadway Center, one of the tallest office buildings in Schenectady. (Statewide, the commission had 463 employees as of last September.)
