Norwegian gaming regulator Lottstift orders Kindred subsidiary Trannel International to cease operations in country immediately

Norwegian gaming regulator Lottstift orders Kindred subsidiary Trannel International to cease operations in country immediately.

The Norwegian Gaming Authority has ordered Kindred subsidiary Trannel International to cease operations in the country immediately.

Lottstift, Norway’s gaming regulator has accused Trannel-syndicated sites Unibet, Maria Casino, Storspiller and BingoLottstift of illegally and deliberately targeting Norwegian consumers.

Supporting its accusations, Lottstift has pointed to the fact that Trannel/Kindred sites have been offering customer services in Norwegian, allowing transactions in Krone and actively marketing to Norwegian residents.

Its not the first time that Lottstift and Kindred Group have locked horns over their very different interpretations of Norwegian market legalities. Regarding this latest case, Trannel are refusing to accept the authority of the Norwegian regulator, and say they are operating within the licensing conditions of their Maltese license.

However, in recent months Lottstift have been hardening their position, claiming their position is perfectly compatible with EEA rules, and in February this year ordered Norwegian banks to block payments with seven Maltese-licensed operators.

Kindred Group isn’t rolling over though, and has been actively challenging Lottstift in the courts, enlisting Oslo-based law firm Glittertind AS to file a lawsuit against the regulator, claiming it has overstepped its regulatory authority and is unfairly targeting Kindred.
