When online gambling became accessible, just the most basic games were offered. However, with improved graphics, animations, music, and added features, casino games provide players with a more realistic experience through VR and AR tech.

We’ll learn how VR and AR are now being used and how they may affect your gambling experience in the future.  Even though the technology is relatively new, it has seen numerous developments across various industries and seen mainstream adoption in various casinos.

VR and AR tech Explained

Augmented reality, or AR, is when digital devices such as smartphones, tablets, or smart glasses are used to augment the real environment. These devices can “improve reality” by adding visuals and noises that can be observed and interacted with via the device.

Virtual reality, or VR, takes things a step further by providing you with an entirely new digital world to explore via VR headgear that may be used with PCs, video game consoles, or on their own.

Virtual reality and augmented reality tech has been depicted in movies and other forms of media for a considerable time, so most people are more familiar with them.

Uses of AR and VR in Online Gambling

Now that we understand what augmented and virtual reality are and which devices can provide a superb augmented or virtual reality experience let’s examine what these technologies could offer casinos.

Online Gambling with Augmented Reality

Augmented reality could improve or enhance how players play games in real-world casinos.

AR online gambling sites have existed for decades, but the technology has only lately caught up to the concept. In July of 2021, the first cross-technology augmented multiplayer reality (AR) casino platform was developed.

In addition to these technologies, it included virtual reality and mixed reality in games such as roulette, blackjack, and online slots. According to the developers, other games will be released later in August. The platform is compatible with iOS, Android, and other operating systems. As with other enthusiasts of augmented reality technology, they wish to create ways to attract gamers from Generations X, Y, and Z worldwide.

Unlike virtual reality, there is no need for a helmet or goggles while using augmented reality in gambling. AR technology may now be utilized without additional software, making it easy for a more significant number of people to operate. Physical and online casinos are looking for ways to integrate the tech onto their platform to stand out.

Augmented and Virtual Reality and Live Dealer Games

In virtual reality, online gamblers will have even more options. The technology will transport you to gorgeous and engaging virtual casinos filled with hundreds of other VR gamers, each with a customized 3D virtual avatar. This can be seen with Facebook’s Metaverse platform where users can interact with each other using their personalized virtual avatar.

Casino games that are already popular can utilize augmented reality. It can lead users to a virtual casino where they can play games and perform other tasks. But it truly shines when you play against a Live Dealer. This aspect of online gaming has expanded rapidly in recent years, particularly over the past 18 months.

The number of people who wish to gamble at online casinos in the US and UK has increased, whereas many land-based casinos remain closed, have limited hours, or have closed down. People are increasingly playing live dealer games but expect technology to improve. Augmented reality could provide players with the desired interaction and help them keep up with technological advancements in Live Dealer games.

Adding augmented reality to Live Dealer games among online casinos and other technologies will enhance the appeal of online gambling. It will also encourage visitors to remain on the site longer and increase their opportunities to sell additional items.

As technology advances, we anticipate that sites will soon begin using AR or VR to provide players with the most realistic and immersive online gambling experience possible. People who enjoy the excitement of gambling and playing online will find these new kinds of casinos to be a radical departure.
