It was about two and a half years ago when the casino legislation was signed into law by then-Governor Northam. It goes to show you have much time, effort, and resources are required before we get to the exciting moments like grand openings. Drafting regulations, licensing, hiring, training, building, inspecting…it takes time to get it right. But we’re here now – Virginia’s very first permanent casino facility opened its doors to the public.

The Virginia Lottery has been tasked with regulatory responsibilities for land-based casinos and internet sports betting. This includes regulation, licensing, auditing, and compliance for gaming operators, equipment manufacturers and distributors, suppliers and employees.
