Job Description:
This is a non-merit position with the Iowa Lottery Authority. Candidates must follow the instructions
in the “To Apply” section.
Positions in this class are exempt from the screening and referral requirements of the Iowa
Department of Administrative Services – Human Resources Enterprise.

The Iowa Lottery is searching for a financial expert with strong analytical, strategic planning,
management and communication skills to join our senior management team as Lottery Vice President of
Finance and Chief Financial Officer. 
Duties and Responsibilities:
The CFO reports to the Lottery’s Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for the development of
the Lottery’s budget, analyzing and establishing a strategic plan in line with Lottery objectives,
monitoring cash flows, producing monthly and annual financial statements, and making all payments to
vendors, retailers and players. 
Essential duties of the CFO include:
 Providing strategic management of the accounting and finance functions of the Lottery
 Overseeing day-to-day operations of the finance department
 Directing accounting policies, procedures and internal controls
 Preparing accurate financial statements for the CEO and Board of Directors
 Ensuring compliance with applicable statutory, regulatory, policy and procedural guidelines, and
Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.
 Recommending improvements to ensure the integrity of the Lottery’s financial information
 Managing and overseeing the relationship with independent auditors
 Collaborating with the Lottery’s senior management team
 Overseeing financial systems implementations and upgrades
 Hiring, training and retaining skilled accounting and finance staff
 Maintaining the highest level of ethical and professional behavior

Minimum Qualifications Requirements:  
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university; and possession of a Certified Public
Accountant (CPA) certificate; and five years of full-time work experience in accounting, auditing, finance,
or management.
