EL Executive Committee suspends all EL seminars and events until 1 May 2020

EL STATEMENT: POSTPONEMENT OF EL SEMINARS AND EVENTS UNTIL 1 MAY DUE TO COVID 19

  • Due to the recent outbreak and rapid spread of the Coronavirus COVID-19, the EL Executive Committee has taken the decision to postpone all EL seminars and events initially scheduled to take place in the period from present (11 March 2020) until 1 May 2020. This concerns the Data&Research Seminar (Prague, 18-20 March), the executive module of the EL Corporate University (Bucharest, 31 March–2 April and the EL/WLA/GLMS Sport Integrity Seminar (Lausanne, 28–29 April). All EL Working (sub)Group and other meetings shall in this period only take place via conference/video, with no physical meetings organised.

The safety and well-being of participants and staff to EL Events and Seminars is EL management’s top priority. Given the increasing number of confirmed Coronavirus COVID-19 cases, and the advice of health officials and governmental authorities, EL considers it inappropriate and unwise to hold gatherings in confined settings and allow participants to travel for only the purpose of attending an EL event. Additionally, a growing number of travel bans from authorities and companies and recommendations to avoid large public gatherings in order to limit the potential spread of the outbreak, reaffirms EL decision to postpone upcoming events and seminars until 1 May 2020. A decision on planned events after that date (Industry Days and Instant Games seminar, both in June) will be carefully taken and communicated in due course.

The EL team will do its upmost to keep Members up to date with the latest developments. It will regularly monitor the situation in relation to COVID-19, following advice and indications from health and government authorities.

I thank you for your understanding and I am available for your questions.

Arjan van ‘t Veer
EL Secretary General
