LOTTERY’S SECOND QUARTER PROCEEDS BRING TOTAL RAISED FOR EDUCATION TO MORE THAN FIVE AND A QUARTER BILLION DOLLARS

NASHVILLE – The Tennessee Education Lottery Corporation (TEL) today announced its FY2020 second quarter (October 1 – December 31, 2019) transfer of $103,376,000 to the Lottery for Education Account, bringing the total raised for education since January 20, 2004 to $5,274,330,000.

To date in FY2020, the TEL has generated more than $200 million for education in Tennessee and more than $8 million for after-school programs.

Additional highlights from FY2020 2Q include:

·         For the month of December, instant ticket sales of $134.8 million and total sales of $161.2 million were the highest for any December since inception;

·         Year to date, instant ticket sales are 2.0 percent ahead of the prior year; and

·         Tennessee-only, drawing-style games (Cash 3, Cash 4, Tennessee Cash andKeno To Go) are 7.9 percent higher than the prior year.
