Jackpot or not, Grenada customers bought over $700,000 worth of lottery tickets in the first month and a half of sales, according to the Mississippi Lottery Commission.
Meg  Annison, director of communication for the Mississippi Lottery, said from the start of lottery sales on Nov. 25 through Dec. 31, Grenada sold $719,400 worth of tickets.
According to Annison, 17 retailers in Grenada County actively sell tickets.
Grenada County’s dollar amount of tickets sold dominates every other surrounding county with the exception of Leflore County.  According to Annison, Leflore County sold $1,045,200 worth of tickets to end the year.
