GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This is a senior management position of the Florida Lottery that directs the Lottery’s Sales division. The primary function of this position is to plan and implement sales, both short and long range, targeted toward existing and new markets by performing the duties outlined below personally or through subordinates. Important elements of this work include developing short and long-term sales plans, developing and executing retailer recruitment and business development initiatives, and conducting regular sales analysis. The employee in this position supervises employees in the Sales Division, including all district managers of sales offices statewide as well as the senior corporate account manager, and also acts in a confidential capacity in accordance with priorities established by the Secretary of the Florida Lottery.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Directs market channel development activity and coordinates sales distribution by establishing sales territories, quotas, and Agency sales goals.
  • Develops and executes initiatives aimed at broadening the Florida Lottery’s retailer base and expanding the number of channels through which Lottery products can be sold.
  • Directs, reviews, and approves the work of all direct reports.
  • Arranges for the training of the district sales and marketing personnel prior to the launch of new products or innovative new marketing strategies.
  • Participates in and assists with the Department’s strategic planning process.
  • Develops new and creative ways to market the Lottery’s brand and products to increase the overall volume of sales statewide through effective Lottery sales campaigns.
  • Represents the Florida Lottery at trade association meetings, before the Legislature, Executive Office of the Governor, and at Lottery events.
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with industry influencers and key strategic partners.
  • Develops and implements sales plans and forecasts to achieve Agency objectives for products and services; prepares sales forecasts, quarterly plans, reports, and correspondence related to the above activities or as directed.
  • Assists the Revenue Estimating Committee (REC) in their annual Educational Enhancement Trust Fund forecasts.
  • Coordinates and responds to audit responses and policy issues pertaining to the Division.
  • Directs studies to evaluate and improve the effectiveness of the Florida Lottery’s games and sales programs.
  • Plans effective sales strategy and training in advance of all new product launches.
  • Performs other sales related duties as directed or requested by executive management.
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.
  • As Contract Manager – Responsible for the enforcement and oversight of a Contractor’s performance, ensuring services have been rendered in accordance with the contract terms prior to authorizing payment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Business Administration, Marketing, Communications, or a closely related field of study and five (5) years of professional experience in sales or marketing at least two (2) years of which must have been in a supervisory capacity.

 

Professional and nonprofessional experience in sales, sales support, or marketing may be substituted for the required college education.

 

Combinations of college coursework and experience as described above may also be substituted for the required college education. College coursework will be considered the equivalent of experience at the rate of thirty (30) semester or forty-five (45) quarter hours on a year for year basis.
