Gaming Laboratories International (GLI) Advises British Columbia On Version 2 Of Technical Gaming Standards For Internet Gaming Systems
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, Canada (1 August 2012) – Gaming Laboratories International (GLI), the world’s leading gaming testing technical consultancy laboratory, is pleased to have been once again engaged to provide advisory services for the revision of Technical Standards for Internet Gaming by the Province of British Columbia’s Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch (GPEB).
The update was the result of collaboration between GPEB, British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) and GLI Canada. As a GPEB-accredited and British Columbia-based firm, GLI played a key technical advisory role in the creation of Version 2 of TGS5 – Technical Gaming Standards for Internet Gaming Systems. Key elements of the initiative were to address ongoing changes and technological advancements in internet gaming, including mobile gaming, as well as the inclusion of entirely new game product line offerings planned for the BCLC’s PlayNow.com site, offered to players inside British Columbia.
BCLC’s Director of eGaming Operations, Mr. Richard Fenster said, “Finalizing a technical standard that meets the needs of all concerned parties is a significant achievement made possible through a major investment of time and expertise of all involved including the Gaming Policy and Enforcement Branch and GLI Canada.”
Since its 2010 acquisition of Technical Systems Testing (TST) – a firm with broad experience in internet gaming testing and regulation – GLI has amassed the world’s foremost knowledge base in testing internet gaming products for highly regulated jurisdictions. For more than a decade GLI (TST) has either advised and/or drafted iGaming technical standards for highly respected iGaming jurisdictions such as British Columbia, Alderney, Italy, Nevada (USA), Tasmania (Australia), the UK and others. GLI has also provided technical standards consultancy to respected Tribes and/or Tribal associations in gaming and continues to work closely with Regulators and Tribes in emerging markets both domestically and abroad.
Salim Adatia, CEO of GLI Canada added, “It was an honour to heed the call to update the original version of the BC iGaming technical standard we originally helped put in place back in 2009. Updates such as the ones that were requested of GLI are natural in the course of iGaming operations within a jurisdiction and we applaud BCLC and GPEB for recognizing this. Technical standards must evolve with the rapid pace of technology, regulatory concerns, and player demand for new product offerings.”
For nearly 25 years, Gaming Laboratories International, LLC has been the world leader in providing independent testing, inspection and certification services to the gaming, wagering and lottery industry. GLI also offers independent network and information security assessments to its regulatory, lottery and supplier clients. With 20 laboratory locations located across Africa, Asia, Australia, the Caribbean, Europe, North America and South America, GLI is the only global organization of its kind to hold U.S. and international accreditations for compliance with ISO/IEC 17025, 17020 and guide 65 standards for technical competence in the gaming, wagering and lottery industries.
