The 300,000-square-foot Maryland Live! Casino, the state's largest gambling complex, is getting close.The Cordish Cos.have announced June 6 as the opening date for its $500 million gaming and entertainment complex.
Casino hours: 8 a.m. to 2 a.m. Sundays through Thursdays; 8 a.m. through 4 a.m., Fridays and Saturdays
Games to play: Maryland Live! will open with about 3,200 slot machines and electronic table games, including blackjack, roulette, mini-baccarat, and Pai Gow Poker. The casino expects to have 4,750 terminals in place by the end of 2012.
Entertainment: A high-tech lounge called the R Bar will offer an interactive experience, based on the game of roulette, where the bartenders serve double duty as dealers. Concerts are planned for the Rams Head Center Stage, which is set to open by October.
Where to eat: The casino plans a variety of food offerings, including the Live Market Buffet, an Asian noodle bar, and a Phillips Seafood outlet. The casino's re-creation of the legendary steakhouse the Prime Rib is set to open in the fall. A Cheesecake Factory and Bobby's Burger Palace, from celebrity chef Bobby Flay, will also operate out of the casino.
Where to stay: There are several hotels nearby, including in the area nearby BWI Marshall Airport. Options include Aloft Arundel Mills, Element Arundel Mills, Springhill Suites at BWI and The Hotel at Arundel Preserve, as well as Sheraton, Westin and Hampton Inn properties.
Getting there: The casino is about 15 miles and less than a 30-minute drive from Baltimore. A 5,000-space parking garage will be available.
