Arkansas' newest lottery game yet to see jackpot win; more than $700k at stake

Two months into the launch of Arkansas' newest lottery game, the jackpot has grown from $250,000 to $741,000 without a winner to claim the top prize, the state's lottery office said Tuesday.

LOTTO, a game exclusive to Arkansas, was launched in September and consists of the player picking six numbers between one and 40 and one "Bonus Number."

The lottery office said although no one has yet won the jackpot, there has been $279,921 in lower-tier prizes won.

“We were extremely excited to offer LOTTO to the people of Arkansas,” said Eric Hagler, executive director of the Arkansas Scholarship Lottery. “Our research indicated that Arkansas players wanted a game with higher starting jackpots that was exclusive to our state, and the fact that this jackpot is nearing $1 million has added to the excitement.”

Hagler said that the six-figure jackpot is motivating, and that many players feel that it is a life-changing amount of money.

"Each drawing the jackpot is not won, the amount increases for the next one based on the sales of the game," a September news release said. "When the jackpot is won by matching the first six numbers drawn, it is reset to $250,000 for the next drawing."

Each play costs the 18 years or older player $2 and is available at lottery retail locations across Arkansas.

LOTTO drawings are held at 9 p.m. every Wednesday and Saturday, the news release said.
