New York getting a specialized gambling show

The future of sports TV is expected to involve a lot of gambling.

ESPN has already added a daily betting show. FanDuel has its own cable program. And Barstool Sports has emphasized wagering over many platforms.

Now, Fox 5 New York is dipping its toe into the betting programming scene. On Saturday, Fox will have its Fox Sports 1 show, “Lock It In,” broadcast a special regional edition.

“Lock It In: Fox Bet Special” will air at noon Saturday in New York. It will also be on in Pittsburgh and Philadelphia.

While New York hasn’t legalized gambling, New Jersey and Pennsylvania have, which is why the program will be broadcast in those areas.

Fox Bet, which is the sports betting brand between Fox Sports and The Stars Group, operates in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

It is just the first of two local shows, but it could be the start of a trend that may lead to a program like it preceding Fox’s NFL Sunday pregame.

This would make sense as the majority of bets occur close to start of games.

The Fox show Saturday will feature the regular FS1 crew: Rachel Bonnetta will host with Clay Travis, Todd Fuhrman and Cousin Sal as the commentators.

It will be more geared toward the New York, Philadelphia and Pittsburgh markets as opposed to its daily “Lock It In” show on FS1, which is more nationally focused.
