Oregon Lottery to rollout sports betting app

SALEM, Oregon — The Oregon Lottery is getting ready to release its sports betting app and hopes to bring in more revenue to the state that is currently going elsewhere.

While Oregon’s lottery has been in the sports betting arena for many years, the lottery will soon be launching a mobile sports betting app called Scoreboard.

The lottery’s Matt Shelby said Oregonians are already betting on sports via mobile apps.

He said while it is not legal for the company offering the app to do business in Oregon, it is not illegal for players.

“Can we capture some of that action in a legal, regulated, transparent platform — that is our intention,” Shelby explained.

Shelby said Scoreboard will be set up to require players be in Oregon when betting.
