Kentucky Lottery Sales Continue Strong Showing

LOTTERY SALES CONTINUE STRONG SHOWING

In Friday's meeting of the Kentucky Lottery Corporation's board of directors, it was announced sales continue to have the strong growth into FY21 that was shown during the last months of FY20.

Total sales for the month of July were $124.4 million, which is $39.1 million (45.9%) more than the same month last year. Scratch-off sales were $77.5 million, up $26.4 million (51.8%) from the same period last year, while draw game sales of $40.5 million showed an increase $7.9 million (24.1%) more for the month than in July 2020.

Internet lottery sales continued to show impressive gains, and instant play sales were up 304.8% from the same period last year to $6.4 million.

Net income before transfer of dividends (and excluding unclaimed prizes) was $28.7 million for the month, which is $7.2 million (33.2%) more than last year.

These results build on the close of FY20 in June, when the Kentucky Lottery posted sales for the year of $1.2 billion, ending the period $73.8 million (6.5%) higher than the previous record set in FY19.

The board approved the FY21 budget, which anticipates sales of $1.276 billion and $286 million in net income before transfer of dividends to the General Fund and KEES Reserve.

In other business, the board approved:

  *   A contract renewal with Bandy Carroll Hellige for advertising and related services;
  *   Contract renewals with The Buntin Group, Inc. for digital media advertising services and for digital media advertising space;
  *   An extension the current contract with IGT Global Solutions Corporation for secondary scratch-off production and related services;
  *   An extension the current contract with Pollard Banknote Limited, LLC for secondary scratch-off production and related services;
  *   The FY21 retailer incentive program, and;
  *   Rules and regulations for six scratch-off tickets and 11 Instant Play games.

The next meeting of the KLC's board of directors will be September 18th and conducted via videoconference. The meeting will begin at 10:00 AM EST. The audit committee meeting will begin at 8:30 AM EST, as well as the procurement committee at 9:00 AM EST.
