COVID-19 pandemic forces postponement of WLS 2020

The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has dramatically slowed the global economy and has forced all of us to make compromises in order to safeguard both ourselves and the health of our loved ones.

In an extraordinary teleconference on Wednesday, April 15, 2020, the WLA Executive Committee discussed the pandemic and the measures that need to be taken to steer the Association through these challenging times.

In particular, it was decided that the World Lottery Summit 2020 (WLS 2020), which was scheduled to be held in October 2020, will be postponed until October 2022. In effect, WLS 2020 will become the World Lottery Summit 2022 (WLS 2022). Thus, WLS 2022 will be held in collaboration with NASPL in Vancouver, Canada with the British Columbia Lottery Corporation (BCLC) as host. The new dates of the event are October 16 – 20, 2022. An alternative date for 2021 was considered but owing to scheduling conflicts the date of October 2022 was settled upon. We greatly value our collaboration with our partners NASPL and BCLC and look forward to seeing you in Vancouver for WLS 2022. Additional WLA events are planned for 2021 that will permit our members to exchange information and keep abreast of the latest developments concerning our industry.

Should you have any questions or concerns pertaining to the postponement of WLS 2020, please feel free to contact WLA Executive Director, Luca Esposito at:
