Oregon Lottery winners pocket more than $45 mil. in 2016

PORTLAND, Ore. – While 2016 may not have been your year, thousands of lucky locals won big through the Oregon Lottery.

Lottery players took home more than $45 million in Clackamas, Marion, Multnomah, and Washington counties alone.

Multmomah County had the most winners, with $15.2 million in prizes of $600 or more. Nearly two-thirds of the winnings came from video lottery.

"Since Multnomah County is the most populous state in Oregon, it would make sense they would have the most winners and the highest prize amounts," said Oregon Lottery Winner and Promotion Specialist, Patrick Johnson.

Since its start in April of 1985, Oregon Lottery sales have brought in more than $11 billion to fund education, economic development, parks, and watershed projects.
