A new report says gamblers in Great Britain spent a record £13.8 billion ($17.8 billion USD) in the 12-month period ending in September 2016.

The country’s Gambling Commission said that nearly £4.5 billion ($5.8 billion USD) came from all forms of online gambling, an increase of about seven percent from the £4.2 billion ($5.4 billion USD) won from April 2015 to March 2016.

“Remote gambling, largely online, is the biggest sector and has been regulated by point of consumption in Great Britain since November 2014,” the executive summary said.

There are 147 casinos in the country. Additionally, the $17.8 billion (USD) record for the overall U.K. gambling market includes revenue from the lottery.
