Maryland Lottery and Gaming Hires New Managing Director, Gaming

Industry veteran to oversee casino gaming for the state

(Baltimore) – Maryland Lottery and Gaming Director Gordon Medenica today announced the hiring of James Logue as the agency’s new Managing Director, Gaming.  Mr. Logue comes to Maryland with nearly 20 years of experience at the Delaware Lottery, most recently as the Assistant Director, Video Lottery, responsible for oversight of Delaware’s casino slot machines, licensing, game manufacturers, system providers, testing labs, responsible gaming and self-exclusion programs.  Previously, Mr. Logue served nearly 23 years with the Delaware State Police.

“All of Maryland’s six casinos are hitting their stride in the marketplace and doing well,” Medenica said.  “Having someone with Jim’s knowledge of casino operations not only provides continuity but also helps to ensure that the state’s casino program continues to run smoothly and remains a success.”

As Maryland’s Managing Director, Gaming, Logue will manage a team of approximately 21 Agency staff members that oversees electronic gaming, auditing and responsible gaming programs at Maryland’s casinos.

“We’re very pleased to have Jim join our team,” Medenica said.  “From his understanding of gaming machines and systems to his experience as a regulator, he has a broad industry background that will make him a tremendous asset to the agency.”

Previously, Logue served as the Assistant Operations Manager, Video Lottery, with the Delaware Lottery from 1998 to 2008. In that capacity, he oversaw the computer system that monitors slot machine operations and coordinated with independent testing laboratories that certified gaming machines for use in Delaware.

Since 2008, in his role as Delaware’s Assistant Director, Video Lottery, Logue has been responsible for developing and enforcing casino policies, procedures, regulations and internal controls. He has also led numerous Delaware Lottery initiatives, including the evaluation of Requests for Proposals for Delaware Lottery contracts.

Since its inception in 1973, Maryland Lottery and Gaming has awarded more than $23.3 billion in prizes to Lottery players and more than $15 billion in Lottery revenue to the State of Maryland. One of Maryland’s largest revenue sources, the Lottery supports important state programs and services including education, public safety and health, human resources and the environment.
