Cash4Life lottery game expanding to daily drawings

Beginning in July, the multi-state lottery game Cash4Life is expanding to hold drawings seven nights a week, the Pennsylvania Lottery announced Wednesday.

Starting July 1, the lottery will draw Cash4Life numbers each night at 9 p.m., adding five new drawings a week to its current Monday and Thursday night schedule. The move comes after the Pennsylvania lottery generated a record-high $4.2 billion in sales last year, and amid a debate over whether unregulated electronic “skill game” machines are cheating the lottery out of millions in revenue.

The five-number draw game offers players a chance to win a top prize of $1,000 a day for life, a second prize of $1,000 a week for life, or seven other smaller prizes. Since Pennsylvania first adopted it in 2015, it has generated more than $100 million in sales, according to the lottery.

Players’ chances of winning — currently around 1 in 22 million for the top prize — aren’t expected to change with the increased drawings, according to the lottery. The $2 ticket price and all gameplay rules will also remain the same.
