"We are better than the illegals!" says Georg Wacker, the new managing director of Staatliche Toto-Lotto GmbH

Lotto Baden-Wuerttemberg wants to place itself increasingly the illegal offerers in the gambling sector. "We also rely on politics," says Georg Wacker, the new managing director of the Landeslotteriegesellschaft. The Lotto Chairman of the Supervisory Board, Minister Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, recently introduced him to his post.

30.01.2018 - "We operate on the basis of the State Treaty on Gambling. Player, youth and consumer protection have the highest priority for us ", underlined Georg Wacker. The new managing director of Staatliche Toto-Lotto GmbH pointed to the recent growth in the number of illegal online providers in the German lottery sector. Participants in these so-called "black lotteries" do not participate in regulated state gambling. Instead, they bet on the Internet on the exit of the original lotteries, for example LOTTO 6aus49 or Euro Jackpot. "Usually the tippers do not know that at all", emphasized Wacker, also because the illegal providers in this country are massively promoting themselves on private television. "We will therefore sharpen our profile and sensitize consumers, but above all the policy.

This is also because the "black lotteries" deprive the country and thus the common good money. The stakes at Lotto Baden-Württemberg amounted to 933.2 million euros in the previous year. Half of this went back to the players in the form of winnings. The income for the land was 357.5 million euros. The amount consists of € 156.4 million in lottery tax and € 201.1 million in special income. With € 132.4 million of the special-purpose income, the state will promote sports, art and culture, preservation of monuments and the social area in Baden-Württemberg in 2018 via the Wettmittelfonds.

"Every euro that drains into dark canals is missing from the state and thus from Baden-Württemberg," Wacker emphasized. The 56-year-old called for the early conclusion of the revised State Treaty on Gaming. "As long as that does not happen, the illegal providers are always looking for new loopholes and do not care about the legal regulations," said the lotto boss. "The slogan 'state, reputable, secure' still has its place in the sensitive gambling sector."
