Job Summary

The Minnesota Lottery is seeking a State Sales Manager to help sell and promote the Lottery to Minnesota adults. You will lead our state-wide sales operation and lead the strategy that grows and strengthens our sales efforts. You will own all aspects of the sales function – managing and inspiring state-wide sales staff, overseeing all sales promotions and communication, supporting product launches, and driving sales.

You are a seasoned sales professional who knows how to lead and inspire a staff to reach and exceed sales goals. You are passionate about what you do and can sell your ideas both inside and outside of the organization. You have experience leading people toward common goals and have worked extensively in sales and sales management. You are a self-starter and great problem solver who pays close attention to detail. You are a great teammate who can develop strong internal relationships with marketing, communications, customer support and operations. You have a great can-do attitude and want to have fun when you come to work!

Highlighted Responsibilities and Deliverables

  • Key leader of team that sets the MN Lottery sales roadmap, developing the strategy for all of the Lottery’s current and future sales initiatives including product display, in store P.O.P., retailer promotions event sales, incentives, and customer relations.
  • Manage sales budget and provide reports on spend and ROI.
  • Set the vision for the organization’s sales strategy, ensuring message is consistent across all channels.
  • Find new opportunities to expand Lottery sales with a specific focus on expanding digital vending machines into non-traditional sales outlets.
  • Support Lottery sales efforts at large sponsored events, including the Minnesota State Fair, WE Fest, Rock the Garden, sporting events, and others.
  • Supervise ten (10) direct reports and extended sales staff – providing clear direction, supporting professional development and producing top quality work.




Minimum Qualifications:

Eight (8) years of professional experience in sales, management, marketing or similar role.


Six (6) years of professional experience in sales, management, marketing or similar role and a Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or related discipline

Experience must also include:

  • A minimum of three (3) years of sales management, supervising sales professionals.
  • Strong knowledge of sales best practices and techniques
  • Experience using sales automation and reporting tools for analysis and tracking.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, business, or related discipline.
  • Relevant experience with mid to large sized brand in gaming or entertainment industry.
